Election Cost

Many factors determine the cost of an election. For most elections the cost is paid for by the counties.

If a Special Election is called by the legislature, the state pays the cost.

  • A General Election can cost upwards of $3.5 million.
  • A Primary Election can cost about $2.5–2.7 million.
  • A Special Election can cost about $1.5–2 million.
