Robin Brown on Education:
Robin will fight to get 65% of the education budget to the classroom
Currently, only 56% of our education budget actually reaches the children in our classrooms. By passing the 65% plan, $247 million additional dollars would reach the classroom without increasing taxes or requiring extra funding.
Robin will work tirelessly to reform current priorities in education, without taking local control away from our community by:
- Supporting charter schools, home schooling, and school choice so students have access to an education that is fair and appropriate for each child.
- Supporting increased funding for higher education, especially in our community colleges.
Robin Brown on Economic Development:
Robin believes in smart land-use planning
Jobs and prosperity depend on growing local businesses and attracting new and diverse businesses to our community. Robin will work diligently to:
- Support the reduction of the Oregon tax on capital gains to encourage investment in Oregon.
- Encourage "clean" businesses to locate in our community.
- Offer greater tax deductions to businesses that offer employee health insurance benefits.
Robin Brown on Responsible Public Policy:
Robin is committed to keeping our streets safe
Oregon's methamphetamine use is the highest in the nation per capita. Crimes associated with meth use, such as burglaries and car thefts, are on the rise. Robin will help make our streets safe again by:
- Working hard to increase the funding to crime labs in order to expedite forensic results and get criminals off the street in a timelier manner.
- Supporting early education programs in our schools to help stop the meth problem before it starts.
