Funding for a Quality Education
Our education system needs an overhaul. As a turn-around specialist in banking, I helped return failing investments back to profitability and that's what our education system needs, a return to profitability. Our children deserve a quality education and we, as taxpayers, deserve to know our tax dollars are being spent in the classroom on instruction.
"I know Joan understands the importance of ensuring high academic achievement in our schools. I know she will be an asset to the Legislature and will work for excellence in the educational system." Carol Lewis, Teacher
Affordable Healthcare for Oregonians
High insurance premiums, lack of insurance coverage and high prescription drug costs affect us all. I believe in promoting programs that help prevent disease, encourage healthy life styles and enable cooperative small businesses efforts to negotiate with insurers for lower insurance premiums. We need to work together to find solutions to our healthcare crisis.
Making Oregon Safe Again
Meth and its devastating effects have touched us all in one way or another. Property crimes, identity theft and child abuse are just some consequences of Meth. I support holding convicted criminals accountable for their actions and protecting lawabiding citizens. I also believe we need to strengthen our State Police and place more troopers on the highways.
Limiting Taxes and Helping Create Jobs
Encouraging a business-friendly environment will create jobs and raise revenue needed to fund public programs and services. By limiting taxes, we help Oregonians keep more of their hard-earned dollars. I firmly believe in a controlled and balanced government budget.
