David Edwards is a leader with fresh ideas for the challenges we face. He'll meet our shared challenges by putting principles above politics and putting good ideas to work.
David grew up in Hillsboro and has gotten results on community issues that matter. For example, he helped pass the bond measure for Century High School when overcrowding threatened our schools.
As our State Representative, David will…
- Ensure schools put more money in the classroom: Reduce teacher health insurance costs and ban expensive 'golden parachutes' for retiring administrators.
- Make health care more affordable: Require big insurance companies to get Insurance Commissioner approval before they raise our rates; also, expand the Oregon Prescription Drug Program to all Oregonians.
- Create more good-paying jobs: Make smart investments in transportation & alternative energy and eliminate needless red tape.
- Cut government waste: Conduct aggressive audits to save taxpayers money and make it illegal for state agencies to hire contractors that send work overseas.
- Reduce crime: Enact harsher sentences for sexual predators and hire 125 more state troopers to stop meth trafficking.
- Close tax loopholes: Last year, David's small business paid $80,000 in state taxes, while most large corporations paid just $10. Tax loopholes like this are unfair to all of us, and shortchange our schools.
