As a Eugene City Council and Planning Commission member, Nancy earned a reputation for being honest and forthright, bringing Eugene's diverse groups together to reach real solutions.
Nancy will bring her effective, no-nonsense approach to the State Legislature, solving the tough problems facing our community.
GOOD SCHOOLS:
The future of our families, our economy, and our community hinges on a quality Oregon public education system. Nancy will work to:
- provide full funding for our schools, from pre-school through college
- expand student assistance programs
- increase our investment in workforce development and vocational/technical training programs.
HEALTH CARE WE CAN AFFORD:
Oregon is in a health care crisis. We all need real relief from increasing medical costs and skyrocketing insurance premiums, especially seniors and low-income single persons and families. Nancy's priorities include:
- reducing insurance costs so Oregon businesses can afford coverage for their employees
- expanding the prescription drug purchasing pool to include all Oregonians without prescription coverage
- ensuring that all Oregon children have full access to health care
CLEAN, SAFE WORKING COMMUNITIES:
A healthy community requires a safe, clean environment for working families and local businesses to grow and develop. Nancy's plan for protecting our community includes:
- supporting small businesses and creating living wage jobs
- funding proven crime prevention and drug treatment programs
- protecting the Willamette River and Oregon's environment and land use laws
