Dear Neighbor,
We have seen our nation and our state go through many changes in recent years as our elected officials have shifted government's priorities to military spending, homeland security and passing laws that favor major corporations. It is difficult to remember a time when government has seemed to care so little about the average citizen. Federal, state, and local decisions have had a direct impact on the quality of life in Oregon's communities.
- Our schools and educational system in Oregon are suffering, which harms our younger generation and threatens our future economic viability;
- More Oregonians are losing medical insurance and access to affordable health care;
- The "safety net" of social services is being cut from every angle, as the growing message from government is "You're on your own!"
- Reductions in State troopers are lowering public safety standards.
- Tax cuts are primarily benefiting the wealthiest citizens and most powerful corporations as they cut into the "flesh and bone" of government's ability to fund essential services.
We are seeing a concerted effort to bankrupt government at all levels by many of our current leaders, while the divide between the rich and the poor only grows larger. This trend is eroding the very building blocks necessary for a healthy democracy to function.
Let's stop electing people to government who hate government!
I understand and respect government's proper role in providing for the common good!
Please support me in my efforts to create a better Oregon where all can prosper and feel secure!
