Occupation: State Representative.
Occupational Background: Business Consultant; helped small businesses become more successful.
Educational Background: University of Illinois; Southern Illinois University; Portland State University.
Prior Governmental Experience: U.S. Air Force, code breaker and cartographer; helped design Air Force One.
Two years ago, I asked you to give me the opportunity to apply my lifetime of problem solving skills to the challenges facing our community.
I've done my best to honor your trust in me. As your representative, I've concentrated on the things that matter most here at home:
No More Cuts to Schools. Championed ending rich retirement packages for administrators and fought for a no-cuts education budget.
Lowering Health Care Costs. Worked to reduce prescription drug prices and hospital rates.
Good Paying Jobs. Created research and development incentives to attract new businesses and good paying jobs to Washington County.
Safe Communities. Worked with Republicans and Democrats to protect our kids from sexual predators. Fought to protect our community from methamphetamine dealers.
With your support, here's what I'll focus on in the future:
School Funding for Classrooms. Forming a statewide purchasing pool for teacher's health insurance, reducing overhead costs and using that money for our kids' education.
Affordable Health Care. Creating more low cost insurance alternatives so small businesses can cover employees and their families.
Stable Funding for Schools. Establishing a Rainy Day Fund to stabilize school funding over the long term.
Support for Families. Breaking the meth addiction cycle. Cracking down on predatory pay day lenders.
I feel good about our accomplishments over the past two years, but there's still much work to be done. I'm committed to finding solutions to the challenges facing our community and our state.
