Since moving to Jackson County in 1998, I have been a dedicated member of my community. My volunteer activities include: High School Regional Mock Trial Competition Judge and Coach, Big Brother/Big Sister Program, Legal Tent at Stand Down Program at V.A. Domiciliary, and Phoenix/Talent Little League Baseball Coach. I was also an invited participant to the 2006 Jackson County Annual Methamphetamine Summit.
I am a member of the following professional associations: Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association: Board of Directors 2001-05, Vice-President 2003-04, President 2004-05; Oregon State Bar; Jackson County Bar Association: Secretary 2005, President-Elect 2006; Oregon Women Lawyers: Board of Directors 1999-2001; State Criminal Justice Advisory Committee; Rogue Women Lawyers: Treasurer 2000-present; Jackson County Family Law Advisory Committee.
The position I am running for was created by the 2005 Oregon Legislature to deal with the overwhelming number of cases that are related to drug addiction in Jackson County. As a judge I would support comprehensive, long-term solutions designed to curb the methamphetamine epidemic, which would likely lead to a decline in the number of total cases filed in our courts.
I am endorsed by judges, prosecutors, criminal defense attorneys and members of the civil bar because I have the temperament that is necessary to ensure that the judicial system continues to function impartially and effectively.
