CUT STATE SPENDING - DON'T RAISE TAXES OR FEES
RETURN LAND USE DECISIONS TO LOCAL CONTROL
ASSURE A CLIMATE OF JOB GROWTH
I'm Terry Rilling and I'm asking for your vote. As Mayor of Cornelius I have encouraged citizen input and participation in decision making. I promised to eliminate a water user fee that was imposed on the citizens of Cornelius and the fee is about to be eliminated and replaced with a broad based revenue source created through citizen participation in the city's budget committee. I will have the same open-door policy as your State Representative that I have had as Mayor.
Currently this state is suffering fiscally and I plan to focus on dealing with the structural problem of our government's wasteful spending. Our state must learn to live within its budget the same way you and I do. All of our state resources must be reevaluated to determine where our government is running inefficiently. We cannot afford more taxes or higher fees. Increased taxes and fees hurt families and force businesses to cut benefits, cut jobs and close down. The state must tighten its spending while maintaining vital community services.
I'm asking for your help to keep control of our communities in our communities, control government spending and assuring we maintain a vibrant commercial posture to protect job security.
