A Better Energy Policy for America
As a leader in the renewable energy effort in Congress, Greg Walden has supported incentives to develop wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and alternative fuel sources. He wants America to become more energy independent, and supports new research and technology to get us there.
Sustainable Stewardship of Our Forests
After helping write and pass the Healthy Forest Restoration Act to make our forests healthier and our communities safer from wildfire, Greg is now writing legislation to speed removal of debris and replanting of trees in fire ravaged forests. His plan will create jobs and fund restoration efforts.
Improving Access to Health Care
Greg's efforts to improve home health care and access to rural health care have earned him national awards. As a small business owner and former community hospital trustee, he's putting his experience to work to improve access to health care in rural America.
Listening to Us, Working Hard for Us
Returning to Oregon nearly every week from our nation's capital is part of Greg's way of staying in touch with us. While making more than 260 roundtrips, he's still been there to vote in Congress nearly 99% of the time the last seven years.
"U.S. Representative Greg Walden of Hood River keeps track of his trips to visit constituents in Oregon's massive 2nd Congressional District. This week marked his 263rd roundtrip from Washington, D.C. since taking office in 1999.But Walden's travel record is good for more than gee whiz statistics. It's a reminder that a politician's worth is directly related to his connection to the people he represents. Walden deserves credit for staying in touch." East Oregonian, February 25, 2006
