PAINTING A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR OREGON
Putting Our Children First:Phil supported funding for early childhood education programs and legislation to cap classroom size (HB3667). During the states budget crisis, Phil fought for adequate funding for schools, health care and public safety.
Keeping Our Families Healthy:Dr. Barnhart sought legislation for prenatal care (HB2662), universal health care (HB2741) and family leave benefits (HB3080). Phil fought against bills to give government control of womens reproductive choices.
Protecting Oregons Livability:In Salem:Phil worked for legislation improving air and water quality, protecting farm and forest land (HB2893) and holding polluters accountable.
Moving Our Economy Forward:Phil believes our economy should be based on family wage jobs. Thats why he has supported our colleges and universities and legislation to create good forestry jobs (HB2683). He also fought for a fairer revenue system reducing income taxes on families while cutting tax breaks for large corporations.
