Dear Neighbor,
The last two years have been difficult for all of
us. Uncertain economic times have been difficult on Oregon’s working families,
and Springfield is no exception. I know how hard everyone worked to support
their household budget, and I have worked hard to tighten the state’s budget
the same way your family tightens the belt every day.
Working with Governor Kulongoski, we have made great
strides in making state government more efficient and more accountable. We have
revamped the retirement system, reduced state payroll, removed unnecessary regulation,
eliminated wasteful spending, and even improved the efficiency of our state
vehicle fleet. And that’s just the start. We have a new attitude in state
leadership to make government more accountable and leaner. I firmly believe
citizens deserve the very best bang for their tax dollar possible and I aim
to get it for you!
During the next legislative session, my focus will
be:
- Ensuring that Oregon’s children get the education they
need and deserve to be successful. This means making education funding the
first budget priority and insisting on proven results from educators.
- Working with the Governor to rebuild Oregon’s economy,
while creating good jobs for our fellow citizens.
- Increasing access to health care for Oregon’s working families.
There is no greater honor than being chosen by
you as Springfield State Representative. I humbly thank you. With your continued
support I will continue to work hard to represent you in the State Legislature.
