Goals for the Oregon Legislature

The top priority for Oregon is establishment of stable funding for public safety, education, and health care through a combination of economic growth and reform of the tax structure in the state.

Economic growth in Oregon can best be achieved by creating a climate that attracts new businesses and jobs to the state. I agree with the Oregon Business Association (http://www.obaonline.org) that “Oregon’s competitive advantage over other economies of the world is directly tied to the quality of life residents in our state enjoy” and that “A world-class educational system is fundamental to our state’s ability to compete in the new global economy.” I support increased investment in education in our state from kindergarten through higher education.

As a physician, I am concerned about the effect on the health of Oregon’s citizens of the recent cutbacks in funding for Oregon Health Plan. As a citizen, I am concerned about the continuous cuts our state police and other public safety officials have sustained in recent years.

The goal of my representation for our district is to restore and sustain an improved quality of life for all Oregonians.
