TIM DUERFELDT – LISTENING AND LEARNING
As a retired teacher, and longtime resident, I believe it’s time for a change in our representation, I believe my practical experiences and grass-root approach to problem solving will be successful in Salem.
FOURTEEN YEARS of ineffective leadership in Salem is not what I desire for our future.
LONG TERM STABLE FUNDING through acceptable tax reform is crucial. I have 34 years of classroom experience, which I will focus on putting our children over politics in all regions of Oregon. I’ve spent half my summers in Oregon working for and with the farmers in our communities, giving me first hand understanding of their issues. Twenty years teaching drivers education has exposed me to transportation’s broad range of concerns, ranging from traffic and licensing to fees and road maintenance.
SAFETY
Why do we have fewer officers and increasing crime rate?
HEALTHCARE
If bulk prescription buying works for the U.S. Military, why not Oregon?
COMMUNITY
I am proud of my involvement in many worthwhile efforts:
-Recycling - Starting twenty years ago with Yamhill Valley Recyclers, we turned a student assignment into a joint teacher project that became Dayton’s citywide drop off depot.
-Bicycling- On the McMinnville Bike Path Committee, we successfully followed federal regulations, located funding, and planned routes.
-Teen Lives – As Driver Ed. President, I worked in the 1997 and 1999 legislatures to adopt the national initiative for graduated licensing here in Oregon, resulting in lower death rates for young drivers. Teen Center Board member. DMV license examiner.
-Award – McMinnville Jr. Citizen of the Year
-Habitat – building five homes, serving on board.
- Kiwanis-sharing work.
- Police Department – three year volunteer
- Church – First Baptist, forty-year participant/believer.
