We Oregonians are facing a difficult task. We’re supposed to provide a decent education for our kids, affordable health care, and help create meaningful jobs that deliver a living wage - and all this is supposed to be accomplished in the middle of a down economy with high unemployment. Tough job? No kidding.

How are we supposed to go about it?

For starters, we must all pull together. We’re going to have to listen to each other carefully and do some creative thinking. There are solutions to these problems, but we’re going to have to learn about the Art of Compromise to give them a chance. The politics of “Over my dead body” and “My way or the highway” that have brought us to this place will have to be set aside while we work for the greater good. Together, we will:

  • Strengthen our economy by providing a business climate that supports job creation;

  • Stabilize funding for our schools and ensure that dollars go to the classrooms,

  • Create solutions to issues that are important to Senate District 12, such as affordable health care for our seniors, maintaining safe neighborhoods, and improving our roads.

It’s a tough job, but I know we can do it. And I know I can help. I understand the nuts and bolts of the legislative process. I can work across party lines, and I’m committed to the issues that are important to Senate District 12.
