Occupation: Lawyer

Occupational Background: I became a lawyer in 1981. As an employee, a small business owner, a CIA officer and a legal counsel for a business that won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, I solved difficult, real-world problems. I’ve worked for the powerful and, more importantly, the weak and vulnerable. My experience and insight also include being a teacher, criminal court magistrate, cook, retail clerk, laborer and CPA.

Educational Background: LL.M. (with highest honors), National Law Center, George Washington University; J.D., Southern Methodist University; B.B.A. (with highest honors, honors program), Southwest Texas State University

Prior Governmental Experience: Central Intelligence Agency; Criminal District Courts of Dallas County, Texas

Dear Voter:

If you want change in Salem, vote for me. I know firsthand how families struggle to make ends meet. I also know firsthand the trauma of losing a job when a plant closes. I can make a difference in our state government.

Judges should only interpret the law, not make social policy. I believe in simple, straightforward principles: The greedy should not profit from their wrongdoing. The strong should not victimize the weak. The guilty should be punished justly.

A large part of my life has been devoted to working to protect our nation’s security. I firmly believe that our personal liberties are essential to the strength and survival of our country. I will never allow our rights to be taken for granted or to be eroded by politicians who prey upon our fears.

Our racial, economic, gender, religious and cultural differences also strengthen our country. Though these differences sometime seem to divide us, I believe that each person is equal before the law and each person has a right to justice.

Please vote for me.
