BACKGROUND: Judge Burton is a first-generation American, and grew up bilingual
(Italian and English). Later, as a practicing attorney, she learned Spanish.
FAMILY: Claudia and Tim Burton, a computer software engineer, live in Salem.
Their family includes Katharine, a pharmaceutical sales representative, and
John, a graphic designer. They have a yellow lab and two cats.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Judge Burton volunteers frequently for Marion-Polk
Food Share. She was awarded the Red Cross Willamette Chapter diversity volunteer
award in 2003 for her work doing Spanish translation. She also serves lunch
at the Union Gospel Mission and participates in the annual Alzheimers
Association Memory Walk.
Judge Burton has displayed both common sense and a common touch. Shes
