I am seeking the position of Circuit Court Judge to effect needed changes
in our judicial system, to provide increased access to the courts, and to
provide timely and decisive decision making to all the people of Deschutes
County.
Currently, I prosecute major felony crimes for Deschutes County. I have tried
over 130 jury trials, including; murder, felony assaults, child sexual abuse,
domestic violence, driving under the influence, and drug cases. I have worked
closely with local police agencies in Deschutes County and was honored as
prosecutor of the year in 2001 and shared the honor in 2002.
Currently, our courts are struggling to keep up with the number of crimes
being committed in our community. The number of civil cases continues to increase
and the opportunity to have your case heard diminishes with time. Let me be
clear, no one person is to blame, but changes are
needed.
As Circuit Court Judge, I would make sound rulings in accordance with the
laws of Oregon and reduce the number of cases piling up in the system. The
duties of a Judge are not to please people but to rule on the law and ensure
justice for all. Change is not easy and requires fresh ideas and perspective.
It would be an honor and a privilege to serve as Circuit Court Judge, Thank
you.
