Born and raised in Oregon. Graduated from Myrtle Point High School. Attended college and law school in Oregon. Resident of Coquille, Oregon for 25 years. Practiced law in Coos and Curry Counties for 20 years before election as Judge. Appointed by Governor to position of Circuit Court Judge in 1998. Judge Stone brings courtroom experience to the position of Circuit Court Judge. During his 20 years in private practice in Coos and Curry Counties, he handled criminal cases from misdemeanors to felonies, complex civil cases and family law matters, and appeared in state, federal and municipal courts. Since being appointed to the bench, Judge Stone has presided over criminal, civil and family law cases in Coquille, North Bend and Gold Beach. Judge Stone was recently elected as president of the Coos-Curry Bar Association.SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY
Judge Stone has a record of community service and professional involvement. Judge Stone has worked with the people of his community for more than 25 years. He is a member of the Coquille Rotary Club, Coquille Chamber of Commerce and the Coquille Valley Elks Club. He has authored educational materials on legal subjects and spoken at professional and community groups.Judge Stone brings competence, experience, judicial temperament, a strong work ethic, community involvement and common sense to the bench. Judge Stone is committed to the goal that all persons in Coos and Curry County have full access to the courts to resolve problems.
