RON SUNSERI: EFFECTIVE LEGISLATOR
TAXES & SPENDING—Ron believes families and small businesses thrive when they keep more of what they earn. Ron kept his promise to oppose breaking the state’s spending limit and led the fight to return the 2% kicker to you, the taxpayer.
PUBLIC SAFETY—Ron has been recognized by law enforcement for his efforts to improve the safety and quality of life for Oregon’s families. Ron worked to keep our neighborhoods safe by beefing up drunk driving laws, toughening laws against sex offenders and strengthening crime victims rights. Ron successfully passed legislation providing women additional defense against abusive husbands. Ron is committed to implementing swift and severe punishment as an effective deterrent for violent criminals.
EDUCATION—As Chair of the Education Committee, Ron successfully passed charter school legislation that created innovative learning opportunities for our children. Ron voted to put our kids first by providing local school districts the ability to reward good teachers, assist struggling teachers and replace poor teachers. Ron helped Mt. Hood Community College receive nearly $500,000 in reciprocity funds, and an additional $50 million for building improvements and new books benefiting Gresham-Barlow Schools.
RON SUNSERI’S CONSISTENT VOTING RECORD REFLECTS HIS COMMITMENT TO STRONG FAMILIES, SAFER COMMUNITIES AND A VIBRANT OREGON ECONOMY.
“It has been an honor to serve as your State Representative during the nineties, and I enjoyed working hard to represent you. I promised to support quality education, keep our families and seniors safe and to promote efficient government while reducing the tax burden. We made great progress, but there’s more work to do.”
