My Goals as Your Commissioner

A Balanced Budget
Maintaining fiscal responsibility and providing guidance through honest and transparent management practices.

Always having a “Plan B.” After many years in agriculture, it is second nature to expect next year to be worse. You learn not to spend what you don’t have.

Essential Services
Maintaining critical services even through the worse recessions. I am a huge advocate for law enforcement services in the county, as well as human services programs that are needed by those that qualify. I am willing to hear all the arguments for or against county funded programs, and able to face the fire when it is time to make critical decisions.

Creating Jobs
Pursuing improved revenues. As a business owner in Polk County for the past 22 years, I can assure you that I have never had a day pass that improving the company cash flow wasn’t a priority. I know Polk County has resources that have, and will provide jobs that have been lost.

Land Use Policies
Improving Oregon’s land use policies. Working with legislators to modernize those policies to fit the 21st century for Polk County.
