PRO-EDUCATION
Our children's education must be our highest priority. A quality education system will ensure Oregon's economic growth. I will continue advocating for long-term, stable funding for all levels of public education. Studies have shown that for every dollar spent on education, we save at least $15 in the criminal justice and social service systems.
I support local control of our schools.
PRO-JOBS
I will fight for family-wage jobs and rural economic development. All Oregonians deserve stable employment and proper health care. Oregon's small businesses are key to our economic recovery and success. I oppose "outsourcing" Oregon jobs. With so many Oregonians still looking for work, I supported the extension of unemployment benefits.
PRO-SENIORS AND PRO-HEALTH CARE
I will continue to support senior programs, such as Oregon Project Independence, so seniors can remain independent. I will fight for affordable health care and prescription drug assistance.
PRO-PUBLIC SAFETY
As an experienced prosecutor, I know criminals must be held accountable. I support swift, certain and appropriate sanctions. I also realize that we must emphasize early intervention and prevention programs for at-risk kids.
PRO-CONSUMER PROTECTION
I will continue to fight for consumers' rights to protect themselves from identity theft. I support legislation to protect Oregonians' personal and financial records by holding rogue corporations accountable.
