This session of Congress has been both challenging and exciting. We know that we need a new President and a stronger progressive majority in Congress to get America back on track.
While we must continue to hold the current Administration accountable, I'm working to change direction and move America forward.
Ending the Iraq War and Preventing one with Iran ~ I introduced legislation that brings our troops home from Iraq. I'll vigorously oppose any ill-conceived military action in Iran.
Jobs and Improving Our Economy ~ From bridges to sewer pipes, our infrastructure is falling apart. One of my highest priorities is re-building America and investing in urban and rural communities to create jobs and improve the economy.
Global Warming and Protecting the Environment ~ As part of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, I'm working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050. I've also introduced legislation to make the polluter pay - if you pollute, you should clean it up.
Providing Health Care Coverage and Standing up for our Veterans ~ Almost 47 million Americans have no health coverage at all. That's unacceptable. I'm supporting reform now. The Healthy Americans Act would guarantee health coverage for everyone. I'm also working to provide veterans with better medical care and education loans.
Most important of all is the unique partnership with Oregonians who care so passionately about saving the planet while strengthening our neighborhoods and helping people around the world.
Serving you is the best job in the world. I deeply appreciate your support and would be honored if you would vote for me, so I can represent you in this next critical session of Congress.
