As a nurse, community advocate, and mother of two grown children Laurie Monnes Anderson has always cared about East County. Laurie has taken this same approach in the Legislature, keeping our state healthy and focusing on the things that are most important to us.
Keeping East County Safe
Laurie authored and passed the Tri-Met Safety Bill to improve monitoring of crimes on our MAX trains.
Laurie fought to improve the safety of our neighborhoods by adding 139 new Oregon State Troopers to ensure statewide 24-hour police coverage.
Laurie helped pass laws to reduce identity theft and made it easier to prosecute sex offenders.
Affordable Health Care
Laurie helped to make health care more affordable by expanding Oregon's prescription drug program and passing the Patient's Bill of Rights.
Educating our Children
Laurie helped secure the funding our schools and colleges need to be successful.
To get money into the classroom, Laurie voted to cut down on expensive golden parachutes for retiring school administrators.
Laurie helped to protect working families by limiting predatory lending practices.
Laurie also worked to increase penalties for property crimes, and looked out for the safety of our children by requiring toy stores to remove unsafe toys from their shelves.
Laurie brought $100,000 back to East County for economic development projects for the East Metro Economic Alliance and the West Columbia Gorge Chamber of Commerce.
