Occupation: Lake County District Attorney, October 2000 to present.
Occupational Background: Klamath County District Attorney's Office; Marion County District Attorney's Office.
Educational Background: Bachelor of Arts, University of Missouri-Columbia; Juris Doctorate, University of Missouri- Columbia, School of Law.
Prior Governmental Experience: Felony Deputy District Attorney, Klamath County; Special Prosecutor, Klamath County; Felony Deputy District Attorney, Marion County; and Special Deputy Sheriff, Klamath and Lake Counties.
During this past term, I wanted to convey the numerous public safety obstacles and challenges faced by counties in eastern Oregon. With this in mind, I requested to be the Oregon District Attorney's Association representative to the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. This organization oversees the basic educational and training requirements for public safety agencies. I was appointed to be a board member by the Governor and confirmed by the legislature. Since then, I have been voicing the need to insure that rural agencies get training provided to them locally.
Recently, the district attorney's office, in a continuing commitment to providing services to victims of crime, has added a new, half-time victim's advocate position. The sole function of this new position is to increase the level of personal contact and communication with Lake County's victims of crime.
Dedication to the Community
My family and I have truly found a home in Lake County. Cathleen, my wife of fourteen years, in addition to helping raise our two wonderful sons, has recently become the Director of the Sunshine Children's Center. I have enjoyed the last five years coaching in our local youth soccer league. Additionally, I have been volunteering with the local swim team; being the vice president last year and the president for the up-coming season.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue the hard work of insuring the public safety of Lake County and its citizens as District Attorney during a third term.
