STANDING UP FOR OUR VALUES AND STANDING UP TO SPECIAL INTERESTS IN SALEM
In Salem, Phil Barnhart stands up for our community values while standing up to the Republicans running the legislature and the corporate special interests who support them.
Phil believes we can straighten out Oregon's budget problems and reduce taxes on Oregon's families by eliminating up to $2 billion in loopholes and corporate tax breaks doled out by the Republican led legislature.
By standing up for our families, we can fund some of our community's most important priorities including:
Putting Our Children First: In the last session alone, Phil stood up to Republican attempts to cut $300 million from our public schools, supported funding for early childhood education programs and legislation to cap classroom size. He'll continue to work to ensure Oregon can recruit and retain the best teachers for our children.
Keeping Our Families Healthy: Phil believes our families' health should come before HMO profits. That's why he stood up to the insurance companies, made prescription medicine more affordable and protected the Oregon Health Plan from drastic cuts. He also fought against legislation giving the government control of women's reproductive choices.
Moving Our Economy Forward: Phil believes our economy should be based on family wage jobs. He supports investing in our colleges and universities as well as local businesses that keep jobs in our community.
