In the last two years, 1996 and 1997, your current congressman, Peter DeFazio, has voted against banning partial-birth abortions, against the public display of the Ten Commandments, against a balanced budget amendment, and has come out in support of doctor assisted-suicide. Are these the type of values that represent you in the 4th congressional district?

STEVE WEBB: FIGHTING FOR YOUR VALUES

I have been endorsed by Oregon Right to Life and am committed to protecting the lives of the unborn and elderly. As your congressman, I will join the war against partial-birth abortion, assisted suicide, and the constant attack against the American family by the liberal establishment.

FIGHTING FOR GOVERNMENT REFORM

I will work to:

Reduce the IRS by 80% by supporting a 17% flat tax. Most families will see a tax cut which will spur economic growth, actually bringing more money to the government.

Send education back to the states where it belongs by eliminating the Department of Education and giving the money instead to the states to disperse where it is most needed. Also, I Will support each school day beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for voluntary prayer.

Fight crime by ending parole for violent offenders and strictly enforcing the death penalty for murderers. Support three strikes and your out. Make sure convicted drug dealers serve their full sentences and make it tougher on people caught with drugs. Under no circumstances will I vote to make marijuana legal.

Greatly reduce foreign aid and use the money to take care of our own country by paying down the national debt or help to save social security. We give away around a billion dollars every year. In 1995 we gave $70 million alone to Mexico.

Strive to find creative ways to save social security so that it will be available for generations to come.

End U.S. troops under U.N. command. No U.S. soldier should have to serve under another countries commander.

Make sure we have a federal balanced budget every year. Government should not spend more than it takes in.

Protect the rights of gun owners as spelled out in the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

Protect the rights of property owners. Land owners should be given just compensation when the federal government takes their property for public good. Peter DeFazio voted against this on October 22, 1997.

In this district, the agricultural industry provides thousands of jobs. As a farmer, I will vote to protect the interests of farmers and ranchers.

Maintaining a good environment is important, but we must take into account the families who's jobs have been lost such as has happened with the timber industry. I encourage everyone to oppose the ballet measure that would ban clear-cutting on both public and private land.

This election, send someone to Washington DC not beholden to special interest groups. Send someone who will stand behind the people of the 4th congressional district and the people of all America.

VOTE STEVE WEBB FOR CONGRESS

"In a world, referring to politics, where what you believe and what you say are either two different things or a considerably watered down version, right out of the chute, Webb has pulled no punches on where he's at regarding many controversial issues."

- SCIO COMMUNITY NEWS 3/24/98

"Steve Webb is clean-cut,intelligent, responsible. He is the kind of public servant we need in congress."

- Liz VanLeeuwen, 9 term State Representative, Linn County
