LEGISLATIVE GOALS:

• Support Measure 60, reforming forest practices to protect our excellent municipal water sources, wildlife diversity, and Oregon's quality of life.
• Work for establishing universal single-payer health care. Health care is a right to which all are entitled.
• Support a repeal of the death penalty and reform of prison system. Put correction back into corrections. Focus on preparing people to come back into society rather than warehousing individuals.
• No sales tax, burdensome to both consumers and small businesses.
• Prohibit Tualatin Valley Water District from compelling Washington County residents to drink Willamette River water.
• Introduce a House resolution calling upon the U.S. Congress to defund the School of the Americas (SoA) at Fort Benning, Georgia. The Pentagon admits that SoA teaches methods of torture.
• Romero was killed by SoA graduates. Amnesty International calls for closing the school. Go to www.soaw.org for more information.
• Resist any efforts to enact an Oregon "Food Disparagement Act," (such as the Texas law which resulted in a lawsuit over a television show on "mad cow" disease.) We citizens are entitled to know what goes into our food supply.
• Enact additional protections for farm workers (including the right to organize) and provide meaningful enforcement for the laws already in place.
