My goals as your representative are:
-
Oregon Jobs First! Tax breaks should be limited to businesses that are locally owned and invest in Oregon. Preference should be given to small business. Tax incentives should be viewed as an investment in the future and should not benefit a few while costing the many.
-
Parental Participation in Education Initiative. Tax incentive for business to provide working parents time off to attend daytime meetings with teachers, to encourage greater parental involvement in education.
-
Guarantee all workers the right to collectively bargain for the best possible wages and benefits.
-
Zero Tolerance for dumping toxic chemicals in public waterways. "Since 1992, DEQ has permitted the Port of Portland to dump dredged silt, contaminated with PCB's coal tar and heavy metals" in Ross Island lagoon. (Oregonian, 8/6/98)
-
End tax deductions for non-sustainable industries and industries which pollute and harm the health of Oregonians.
-
Alwayssupport a woman's reproductive rights.
-
Repeal laws passed by the Republican-controlled legislature which have greatly weakened the ability of citizens to seek relief from losses caused by unfair trade practices, dangerous or defective products, or malpractice.
-
Make government more responsive to citizens, not paid lobbyists. Give constituent groups preference over high paid lobbyists in meeting with legislators. Your legislator should be in Salem promoting the best interests of the people of Oregon.
As your representative, I will stay in touch with the needs of working Oregonians. Many times elected officials forget who they represent and are only loyal to political contributors.
Get involved in this race!
