CEDRIC HAYDEN... For the taxpayer!

Cedric Hayden has repeatedly resisted efforts to increase the tax burden on working Oregonians. He fought to see that the state returned to us the surplus taxes we were owed (known as the kicker). He has repeatedly voted against a state sales tax, increases in the gas tax, and he successfully worked to pass legislation to make it harder for the legislature to raise your taxes. Cedric has opposed wasting taxpayer's money on things like Portland's $1.2 billion light rail boondoggle.

CEDRIC HAYDEN... For our schools!

Cedric Hayden supports improving the quality of education here in Oregon. In the Legislature, he voted to give $100 million dollars more to Oregon schools than even the governor had proposed. Cedric voted to fund education first, before any other state programs. He supported creation of Oregon's Education Endowment, providing funding for school improvements and student scholarships. And, Cedric Hayden fought to see that rural schools were treated as fairly as Portland schools.

CEDRIC HAYDEN... For safe streets!

Cedric Hayden believes we need to keep violent criminals behind bars. That's why he voted to create mandatory minimum sentences for violent offenders. Cedric supports shifting the debate to the rights of crime victims and away from the rights of criminals, and he supports creating mandatory minimum sentences for repeat burglars and thieves.
