State Senator

OCCUPATION: Pastor, State Representative

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Bachelors, Masters, Doctor of Ministries

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: State Representative 1993-1998, Chair Multnomah County Charter Review, Chair Neighborhoods Against Crime

For the past six years, Frank Shields has served the people of Oregon, in the State House. During that time, he has been proud to be an advocate for those who need him most.

As a key member of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Services, Frank helped craft a budget which, even in this time of diminishing revenue, and smaller government, was still able to provide vital services to thousands of needy Oregonians.

Frank came to the Legislature with the same calling that brought him to the ministry 28 years ago. His beliefs, and convictions, have given him the ability to rise above partisan politics, and be a true public servant. They earned him the respect of both parties, and a reputation for being "The Conscience of the House."

Frank would like to continue to serve you; as a member of the State Senate.

As Senator, Frank would like to tackle a number of difficult problems:

Making it possible for the Elderly to get residential care they need, without bankrupting themselves or their families. Allowing them to keep more of their hard earned money.

Helping clean up our environment, by allowing private citizens the same financial incentives which businesses already enjoy, to use more efficient, less polluting, fuels and energy sources in their homes and vehicles.

Re-thinking education from the smallest child up. Head Start programs and all day kindergarten pay their way, as children get more ready to learn and succeed in later school years. In High School, making the CIM and the CAM pay, with college grants for their successful completion. Likewise, at the college level, we must target financial aid better.

The list goes on and on.

November 3rd, vote for Frank Shields. Government the way it was meant to be.

Frank Shields has agreed to limit campaign expenditures for this General Election under ORS 260.180.
