Jobs that Support Families
I helped lead the effort to deepen Coos Bay's Port to bring thousands of new container jobs to our communities. I've demanded that Congress start making federal timber payments again. Washington put major logging restrictions in place. They need to live up to their promises and help pay for what they did to us.
Supporting Our Returning Veterans
No matter where you stand on the War, it's clear we have to do more to support our returning veterans. I'm working hard to expand veterans' education, housing and medical services.
Putting Education First
In 2007, I championed our landmark education budget and worked to get more dollars into the classroom for the first time in a decade. As Principal of Marshfield, I worked with limited funding all the time. We have to give our educators the tools to help every child succeed.
Quality Health Care
I helped pass laws to require health insurers to hold public hearings before they raise rates and reduce prescription drug rates for thousands of Oregonians. Now, I'm ready to make healthcare providers more accountable by requiring hospitals and insurance companies to follow consistent, fair pricing guidelines.
